I've heard a rumor that there is an ignition wire that you can cut that will allow the older model of the Zuma to rev higher. Is this true, and if so what wire is it? Is there one on the new Zumas?

cut the red wire- takes out the rev limiter

Wow..Mark..for the rest of the Forum..be more specific.I know I have a Derbi..(with about 12 Red wires!)..But you would be surprised at how similar the Spanish/Italian/French/Japanese Wiring is..(Seriously!) John

okay.. on the CDI unit there is 4 wires coming from the CDI... on the "old style zuma" only, you can unplug the black/red wire and it will disable the rev limiter on the scooter...

Most all other scooters this will cause the scooter to not run... IF that is the case you must upgrade to a new CDI unit... however this does work on the old zuma's...

the fastest and easiest way to increase RPM's is to add a "race pipe"... Removing the limiter will only work if your engine can spin that fast to begin with!

I'm With you jered..If you are are on the Forum and asking about ..Higher revs..You better have a 70cc Piston..And at Least a Aftermarket Pipe..To Keep your Engine from Doing the SEIZE THING....There arent really any "CHEATS".....just Honest "MODS"....... :D JOHN

Really- I typed up this whole thing, hit the wrong button and deleted it all. So... I just put what needed to be done and it was in the "Old Style Zuma" section and Cletus was asking about older Zumas and so on...

Sorry bro and I will be more specific next time!

Thanks for the info! I got a Malossi pipe on my 99 Zuma and now I'm worried that it might sieze up if I take out the rev limiter. the only upgrades that I've really done to it is the pipe and some clutch springs. Do I have to get the higher cc kit before I take out the rev limiter?
