Piston Wrist-Pin Cir-clips

Hey all...I was wondering if most of the 70cc mod kits and other stock scooters all had those "Paper clip" Piston Cir-clips? Seems from a mechanical stand point a REAL cir-clip Would be appropriate on ANY piston...even the Little 2-stroke..is this a cost measure? ,or just normal 2-stroke ? Just a thought ;)

huh? I guess I never noticed they were paperclips?

They fit the piston well IMO and I've taken mine out probably 3 times and no problems...

it is pretty much a standard in 2 cycles...... even my 1200cc ski has this style! :cool: as long as you have plenty of spring left in those "spring steel paperclips" you have nothing to worry about. ;)

It's one of those thigns when you see it so many times, after a while you jsut fail to notice it anymore.

my polini corsa kit had better ones then stock didnt look so weak,and had a little different clip design. Anybody had a circlip fly out before i did on my first engine destroyed everything.

I here that you can Only use those circlips, used Once something about them Coming off and Jamming the Piston!!

On the old scoot i took mines off about 15 times with no Problems...

I have taken mine off a couple times... one is a little bent but it stays in place...

Razz...I know of a guy on the Yahoo forums whom had a Cir-clip come off and Toast his First 70cc Metra-Kit Piston and cylinder...(he went Malossi )....I guess the Instructions say to have the Opening of the Clip Face..UP..I guess this is an Inertia/Gravity thing..Anybody else Read thier Instructions?? any Ideas??...The Mechanical Engineer in me.. wants REAL cir-clips..(Which arent real hard to Find)...I don't think the added weight really amounts to anything..(I might just be too anal about this)..But why did the Two stroke Motor builders Go Cheap on this..Do I smell a Rat??...Like ...sell more...Parts...?? Just another Wicked Thought...John
