Which one?- a basket that attaches to the inside of the front of the legshield or one that attaches to the rear rack?
You buy one for the rear rack from Yamaha. If you are in Canada or know a Canadian dealer, you can order a front inner basket from your Yamaha dealer. If you are in the US
the wire mesh in front can be ordered through Honda --it is made for the Honda Metropolitan, but they are currently backordered.
Also you can get one from scooterworks.com

Thanks sooznd. After looking at the website that you posted:
http://www.scooterworks.com/Basket_Honda_Metropolitan_V_P5792.cfm
I took a closer look at the black rear basket that they have on sale for:
Prima Milk Crate Metal Basket ETC... (http://www.scooterworks.com/Milk_Crate_Metal_-_Prima_P6588C193.cfm)
$34.99
And I said "Hmmm, that looks just like the cheapo waste basket that I just got at staples:
Waste Basket With Wire Mesh (http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_Staples-Black-Wire-Mesh-Desk-Collection_85564_Business_Supplies_10051_SC1:CG8:D P1490:CL141925)
$12.49
I then punched some holes in the right spots and zip-tied that basket on the rack. It looks great and I really like it. I will hold my books and notebooks without the slightest problem from vibrations or big dips. I will see about a cover for it later. I know that I only saved a little money on the deal, but I got much more storage space and hardly any problems with mounting it. If I ever want to take it off again, I can resume using it for the office trash bin.
Pictures to come soon.
The waste bin that I bought from the store was silver wire mesh and looked slightly different than the one in the above websites.

I just bought the official Yamaha rear basket for a whopping $19 from the local dealer. The zip-tie istallation is pretty cheap, but it's easy to install and unless you regularly overload the basket, more than sufficient.
I always overload the basket and the last one cracked from flexing. I have it installed pretty far back to make gas tank access easier. I developed my own mounting sytem with polycarbonate reinforcement and bolts similar to the original bolted mounting systen. It doesn't move or flex at all now.

That's cool that you got the Yamaha basket from the dealer. Was your last basket a plastic milk crate? I didn't know if you were talking about the zip-ties or the milk crate. You probably got more style out of the Yamaha basket but I was going for creativity and usability (not to say your set up is unusable and non-creative). I can pack a lot of stuff in there. I have yet to use it for grocery shopping but I will do that as soon as it stops raining here in beautiful Denver, CO.
If you are really really (and I mean really board out of your mind) you can come and watch my Parakeet sing the BUSH song "Mouth" on YouTube.com at

No, the last basket was a Yamaha also. It was on the bike when I bought it used. I moved it back so I could access the fuel tank easier. With only about half the basket on the rack, however, the it bounced really bad and broke the wires on the bottom of the basket.

I went to the site that was recommended for the leg shield basket and it says it is for pre 2006 vino 50's. Has anyone with a vino 125 installed one on their scooter?????
