Hi Zuma owners. I should be looking to buy a 50cc model shortly and was wondering what people recommend for security. I live in an apartment complex on the 3rd floor. I'd chain it up to something, but there is really nothing around to chain it to. Only thing I've found is a telephone pole around the corner behind the building, where its more likely to be messed with by kids. Closest bike rack is another building over, so that will not work. If I was on the ground floor, I'd just take it inside every day on some rubber mats, but I don't feel like lugging it up the stairs.

well, that sux you cannot chain it to something as that is the best thing.

Maybe a disc alarm would be your next best thing? It would mount to the front brake, and sound an alarm if the scooter moves. It would also keep the scooter from being rolled away. It still wont keep someone from "lifting" the scooter, but is better than nothing.

Find a new place to live that suits the scooter lifestyle? ::handleba
Maybe talk to the complex to see if they can add something to deter theft. It would be in thier best interest and most deffinitely get theft insurance.

Build something in the style of a doghouse but to accomodate the scooter. install locks and alarm. Never leave personal belongings in the scooter (insurance and registration and personal stuff) and insure the scooter.

The Disk-lock with the alarm is probably the best solution. Here is one that we offer Xena disk-lock (http://www.provoscooter.com/xena-xzz6-disc-lock-alarm.html), its the best out there. I've also seen some eye hooks that can be drilled and anchored in the ground. You could then chain the scooter to that - Assuming the apartment complex would let you install it.

You need to look a little harder for a good place for the scoot.

Walk around the back of your building. Talk to your super or maintenance guy. They may find you a scooter hideaway on the lower floor or basement. It is worth your while to ask.

I had a Yamaha RD350 in college and wanted to keep it by my dorm. The maintenance guys showed me that around back I could pull under the stairs and lock to the foundation. As a bonus it was a covered dry spot for the bike.

Kept it there for two years and never had a problem.
