How to use a tach.....................

Ride full throttle..........watch tach!

It will rapidly climb to a peak RPM.

Now......................

1. If RPM slowly decreases from peak..............your lean

2. If RPM slowly raises from peak.....................your rich


With that said...........after some practice, you can determine just HOW rich/lean you are by the spead of the increase/decrease.



Isn't this a LITTLE bit better than plug chops?

Plus with todays synthetic oil and high detergent gas it takes WAY to long to get a good color reading on a new plug!!!

The tach technique does sound way better. Only problem with that is plugs are 3 bucks a pop, while a tack is more like 50 bucks. But I'd say it would be worth it, if it gives you a better reading.
