My buddy and I picked up a pair of new Vino classics during Memorial day weekend. Love the thing. We had wanted the 125's but they didn't have them in stock and we needed a motorcycle license for it which we didn't have. This was a we need it now kind of thing.
So I'm happy to be chugging along at ~39 in a 40 but if I could get a few more out of it that would be great. No one does 40 in a 40 and I don't like being a pain to the people that need to go around me.
What do I do?
I saw someone on here said their Vino does 45. That would be perfect.
I've seen big bore kits but I also heard they can screw up the engine. If I did that and they did screw up the engine how much are we talking to fix? I saw larger carb kits but are they useful without the bigger bore? I'd like to maintain the nice drivability and don't want the thing to be overly loud. What exhaust will grant me the most power yet not stupid loud? What else can I do to this thing? I really don't want a windshield because IMHO it makes the scooter look dumb. Just want to maintain the impeccable style of the scooter yet at ~45mph.
Thanks!

The 4 stroke Vino 49cc has no restrictions and, as far as I know, there is no upgrade kit for the Vino 4t engine at this time. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. If you are getting 39 mph GPS verified top end, be very happy. But don't put much stock in the speedo reading, they have a bad reputation of being rather inaccurate to the high side. About the only thing I know of that you can do at present is install a windshield, it may give you a another 2-3 mph top end. If you decide to install a windshield, please keep me posted on the results. I have been considering one, but 90% of my riding is in town, stop and go, in 20-35 mph speed limits and a windshield really isn't functional under those conditions.

Not sure about the variator washer thingy. Someone else will have comment on that.

If you bought 'brand new' Vino 50's, then theres nothing you can do.
In 2005, Yamaha dropped the 2 stroke 49cc engine for the new 4 stroke 49cc engine. When they did that, all of the tuning tips and tricks that applied to the older Vinos went out the window.
If you have to mix 2 stroke oil with your gas, then you can do the variator derestriction, exhaust derestriction and consider a cylinder kit. If you put straight gas into the tank and have to change the oil seperately, you're out of luck. There are no upgrade parts for the bike.... You'll either have to live with it, or trade it in when you find something bigger..

check jiangwayne.com-- they offer some perfomance parts--the exhausts are expensive and you will not see the performance boost that you get with a 2stroke.
some say drilling out the exhaust will help a bit, but I have no experience with that.
also scootertronics or mhr might have some parts, too
I thought I rememered reading about a 70cc kit for the 4 stroke Vino--but I may have been dreaming..

Thank you very much my friend. :)

There are now upgrades for the Classic 49cc. Jiang and scootertronics both have them, plus there are high performance pipes for sale on eBay. However, according Jiang, the 4 stroke will not respond to upgrades like the 2T. Jiang has stated the kits are not worth it, and I have to agree. I have read where the upgrades will only produce a 5%-15% improvement in top end. So if the typical Classic goes 40 mph top, then it's not difficult to see the gain will be marginal. At a cost of $350 for the kit, and the guy on eBay wants $250 just for the pipe - I don't think so.

You could go to larger tires, like the 3.5X10's are pick up a lil top end speed, i know someone with just the pipe, doesnt help much really with power but it looks cool, expensive cool lol.

your cheapest fix is to replace your rollers w/some heavier ones. your bottom end would suffer a little but you will gain some top end. Plus they are cheap.
