Well i hit 93 KP/H today on a 49cc, piped, and some rollers, "Polini Kid"& "The Lip"head port special,

so dont give up on the 49 cc! they do have some potential if you have the patiance....

i have the leo zx and some other goodies to my zuma.
how much did it cost you to get there?

dude, if you attatch wings to your bike you could theoretically fly now! Ps, get the intake and the exhaust ports ported and polished, as well as anything else that can be ported and polished on the block. That is my dream which may soon come true because the changes it makes to a ford cobra engine is EARTHSHATTERING! I am very curious what this change alone will yeild in overall performance with the 2008 Zuma 49cc. I have BIG expectations that torque and top speed will increase dramatically. Other than this modification and the carb cam lobe mod, I assume that a Zuma could do 50mph easily. Maybe I'm dreaming but so it is, only my humble opinion.

Ride safe,
Mike

took a washer out of the variatiator, and messaged the engine, thats it really, i re-jet the carb to a stock 05 jet

Just thought I'd chime in here since I did see the GPS device. 52.1MPH was attained with a Leo RR, upjetted stock carb from an 04, lighter rollers in a stock variator, yellow clutch springs, a yellow torque spring, a B8HS gapped at .22, and lots of cylinder massaging. Squish lowered to .85mm. Running premium gas.

So not exactly stock but definitely using the stock 49cc cylinder and piston.

I think that 55MPH is attainable with a better variator, some CF reeds, some further tuning and a little help from mother nature.

All in all pretty respectable for not very many dollars worth of tuning parts and a relatively quiet scoot that still gets great gas mileage.

52.1 mph works out to 83.8 kph. The OP said 93 kph. What happed to the missing 9.2 kph?

Yeah, I was wondering what kind of massaging he did to the motor.

Did he take material from the top or bottom of the barrell? From the head?
I would assume that premium gas wouldn't be required for .85mm. What kind
of compression is he getting?
Did he widen or raise the exhaust port? Polish?
Any raising of the transfer ports?
Any carter work done?

I've got a 02 Vino with a malossi vario, and Leo ZX pipe. I love the fact that it
goes down the road EVERY day, while I'm constantly tuning the Zuma. What
kind of RPM's is the massaged motor getting? Heat?

So many questions,

ok, 83.8 kph sounds more realistic. I hit 85 kph with my weak 70 cc setup.

Well you can chalk that one up to speedo error. The 52.1MPH reading was done with a garmin handheld. The 93 Kilometre/hr reading was done with the aftermarket speedo. Thats a fair bit off but really not that uncommon. I am 10% off on all 3 of my other scoots.

Okay, well, in that case, my scoot went 110 kph ..#1..

So many questions,

Head squish pre-headwork measured 2.1MM (yep thats alot)
Took most of the material off the top of the barrel, some off the head, none off the bottom of the barrel, thinner base gasket, stock (.3mm) head gasket used. Finished with a .84 squish.

Port work - very non-technical radical widening of the exhaust port, polishing of the newly widened exhaust port. Transfer ports raised about 1mm and widenened slightly, much time spent polishing the transfers. Hard to say if premium gas is required but compression tested at 160-165psi (warm).

Hard to say what kind of RPM it was making. A tach should be a near future upgrade.

Heat - yep there was heat. JK - hard to say no EGT or cyl temp guage. Obviously the bump in compression made more heat but probably nothing crazy.

The bug has bitten the stig and a 70cc kit is on the way so this was really a non-technical temporary experiment. However having said this, his scoot is very easy to live with the way that it is - 85KM/hr, a relatively quiet exhaust and good fuel economy. For some thats a great package with no further need for upgrade.

But man once that bug bites....ya just gotta go faster.

I hear ya about the bug a bitin. The stock squish on my MHR replica kit was
over 2mm too. On my MHR 47,6 kit, I only had to shave .5mm off the top of
the barrell to get it down to .5mm squish. All the squish is in the head! I'm
running 185 PSI cold, but I run a mix of 110 and 93vpower at a ratio of 32:1.

I'll have to check, but i think the rule of thumb for exhaust porting, is to make
the port width 68% of the bore. If its just for fun, you should advance the timing
by a mm and see what kind of accel you can get.

I'll be doing some high speed runs here pretty soon. I just upgraded from my
c16 to a c20, and after I get that tuned in I'll be switching my 13/44's out for
these 16/40's I got last week.

I am nooby at scoot"n I dont know about squish in but I know about the bug bit"n.I have stock 08 Zuma with the T-Mod i got 47.5 GPS down slight grade of hill with the wind comming at me..

For some of you scooter pros i have a couple question about the rollers if you may contact me.. I tryed to ask the dealer here but they think it is a joke to fix up a scooter. So plz if you may contact me i have alot of questions I wanna go faster!!

Mikal, What do you pay for the 110 octane and how much do you have to buy at a time.

The neighbors look kinda funny at the 205L drum sitting in my back yard.

perhaps i can start doing a tach and oh wait, looky looky, whats this beside me? an athena variator and carbon fibre reeds!,

110 is 5.25/galllon. Check for this at gas stations near your local redneck racing track.
93 is ~4.50/gallon.

I fill one 5 gallon can for each octane rating, then mix them 50% together in another
5 gallon can two times. 10 gallons usually lasts quite a while. My 21mm carb is pretty
gas efficient.
