Well hello everyone! I'm new to the scooter world, but extremely into it, especially with these gas prices on the rise. I just brought my 08 zuma home today. I've looked into these quite a bit and look forward to learning about them as well as heavily modifying them. I have huge plans for mine. I am also the shop foreman of a Ford dealership so I have the know how and capabilities to make a pretty mean Zuma.

My first mods are going to be the headlight, throttle cam and air/fuel mixture mods.

My second modifications are going to be the Michelin S1 street tires and a LeoVince carbon fiber/natural pipe.

Does anyone have any input for my third mods? I'm thinking variator w/rollers and clutch springs might be the way to go, but any help would be appreciated.

I look forward to talking to you all in the future!

I would do the throttle cam mod. It took me about 1.5 hours total and is completely free. Before I did the mod, cars behind me would be right up to my rear each time I start from a dead stop (Even with my Leo Vince ZX pipe installed). Nowadays, I burn most cars off the starting line.

Pros:
Faster

Cons:
MPG decreases

I vote for a Malossi Multivar Variator for your third mod.

i say get a aftermarket pipe, not a race pipe but something for free flowing, they can give up too 10mph more on a stock bike.

SVogel85, I am a Senior Master Tech at a Ford shop in Delaware. I've had my 08 Zuma for 3 weeks now & have done the throttle & air fuel mods. Also I have disconnected the crude EGR setup from the air filter box & plugged that hole, but left the tube open from the EGR filter as not to create more of an exhaust restriction. I currently cruise around 43 mph(gps) with little wind & get up to 47 mph downhill. I ride wide open for 14 miles & get about 65 mpg. Currently 700 miles on scoot. I want to purchase the stage one kit- does anyone know if the belt you can purchase with the kit is kevlar? What is different with over 200 lb. rider kit? I am 205 lbs.

Cons:
MPG decreases

Not sure if its really a Con to get 70+ mpg. Yeah it drops but is still better than a cage!
