Hi, Anytime i go above 30mph I start to get a shudder (best way to describe it), it feels like it would if a tire was out of round. Does anyone else have this problem? and know what the cause and how to fix it is? :8wave:

I have the identical issue, also at 30+mph. The front wheel is out of balance. It has been irritating me but the stealership is too far to ride. I'm stopping in there Monday so I plan to take the front wheel off and bring it with me to have it balanced while I'm there.

Call your dealership and I'm sure they'll also take care of it at no charge.

cool I thought maybe I was nuts or it was just the big tires ...stupid.

Could be a bad bearing. The wheels at least on the 03-07 zumers don't make too much vibration till about 80km/h. As far as I know the wheels shouldn't need balancing. Get the bearings checked because balancing the wheel may just hide a bigger problem.

The thing is it's brand new, only 75 miles on it so far.. Has done it since day one, :drum:

The Michelin Boppers ride so much smoother if you stay on road.

Well today I took my front wheel off (which is ridiculously easy... one long bolt through and once you remove that the wheel basically pops right out. Didn't need to touch the brakes and the speedo cable doesn't need to be removed at all it basically falls of the side of the wheel ass'y)

ANYWAYS I am taking it with me to the dealer tomorrow (too far/scary/fast to ride) to have them balance it. If this simple fix cures me I'll report back. I'll mention to them to check the bearings as well as yammybws intelligently pointed out...I hadn't considered that at all.

UPDATE:

I took my front wheel off and brought it to the dealer. They didn't have a machine small enough to balance it and sent me to another motorcycle shop close by. He was able to spin balance it (the correct way).

He said the machine was telling him to put 2 oz. of weight on the wheel, which he said is surprisingly much! He suspected that the cheap Chinese tire is to blame but the weight he added should help.

End result: I reinstalled the wheel and it is feeling much better. I'll leave it at that for now and consider new tires at a later point.

SIDE NOTE: I also had a very squeaky front brake like a lot of others on here. While I had the wheel off I hit the rotor with 250 grit sandpaper on both sides, sanding from the wheel's center outward. I also cleaned the rotor and pads with brake parts cleaner (which didn't work before just by itself). I've only ridden a few miles but the front brake is now dead-quiet.
