Anyway, I haven't seen it in the sun yet... only under flourescent light so hope it'll look good in the sun...
But it's rattle canned Mirage Ice...
FYI, you only need to use an adhesive promoter if you are down to bear plastic... if there is paint on the plastic just wet 2000 grit it and paint it...
It took a couple hours to hand sand and a few hours to paint it...
I should've taken more time with the painting as there are some flaws in the paint but what can you expect from a rattle can...

Kinda looks like the paint job on my Uncle's Boat. Not that that's a good or bad thing - just an observation.
I think it's still missing something... the paint job is o.k., but it needs a certain je ne sais quoi ... flames maybe? Lightening bolts? Something to stand out over the dark sparkliness...

What I wanted and couldn't find...
was to do a candy red... a dark red... anyway spray it solid that color and then on top of that spray a clear gold flaked coat on it through LACE... so that when in the sun it would have a golden lace imprint on the paint (a single stripe all the way around the scooter)... then clear coat it....
but there was no where I could get the flake paint and I didn't want to spend $45 on a small bottle of flake and try and mix it myself...
So... Ice it was...

Uhhhh, in all honesty it looks kinda girlie to me :o . Just too sparkly ya know. Don't mean to talk smack, just my opinion. I agree with jones though, you needa a lil something, maybe a two-tone. Something to contrast that dark glitter stuff.
In the sun your gonna look like a big Christmas ornement, or easter egg!!! :D

yeah... well I had a mirage purple/green paint job on an old bug... and I thought this would be more like that... but it appears that the glitter color is the only thing that changes... not the color of the paint! Which sucks...
oh well... I'll probably redo it here in a year anyway...
Thanks for the honesty....

Hey, don't let my opinion burst ur bubble bud! If you like it, keep it. Different strokes for different folks as they say. I like the classic look, painted my bug two-toned, baby blue and white :) . Thing we gotta remember is we both like scoots and bugs!!!

yep...
Bugs and scoots...
Got to love them...
I think it'd have been cooler to paint part of them the purple/green and part red/gold...
but I'm not sure... as I said... I need to see the daylight long enough to see it in the sun...

A very nice job, Jered. I like the sparkly stuff, but there's too much of the same grey/black colors--I think it needs some contrasting flames or something maybe silver-colored or bright red/orange.

I'm thinking if we ever get anyone who can design a cool provoscooter.com sticker that I would like on on each side... (like a right and a left one) then I'd be happy but....
we are trying to come up with a good design as we speak... If any of you have any concepts you'd like to submit please do so... and we'll run them by the boss and see what he says...

Hey, Way to go with the paint job. It Looks n-ice ! !
I wish I could get more time for my paint job. Do you think I would have to use that promoter if half the paint was sanded and the other half sanded down to plastic? With my fiberglass patching I know I will need some promoter. Probably be safer just to do the whole thing.
Thanks the pics. It's great to see some customs.

here's the thing....
If you spray the promotor on where there is paint and plastic... on the edges of where the paint is... it's gonna bubble and be tacky...
your supposed to spray the promotor and then paint it within 10-15 minutes... so there is no time for sanding out the bubbles...
So if you have that situation, you might try a small test are to make sure your promoter has the same effect of bubbling the paint... if it does... your gonna have to strip to bare plastic instead of some paint/plastic...
Which is some serious extra work...

My fiancee just can't understand why I can't leave my scooters alone. I didn't go to the extent of painting my Zuma - although I do like the stock blue a lot better than my silver. But I did have to change the stickers. I was going to put some of the stickers on that come on the blue ones - but thought I'd see what some reflective tape would look like (I already had some anyway). I did it real quick, with the intention of taking the time to redo it right if I thought it looked good. But now I've decided it's good enough to stay that way for a while.

Zuma II- you scooter looks awesome with that reflective tape pattern. Where did you find blue relective tape that wide?
All I could find was some very thin--maybe half inch or so yellow and red

You can probably buy scraps from any local sign shop - but here's some 4x9 sheets of the blue on eBay (if it's 3m then it should be the same blue).
Try a search on eBay for these sheets.
I bought mine as a lot of large pieces of assorted colors on eBay for about $10.
The stuff is easiest to work with if you wet the area with a soaked paper towel before putting it on - you can slide it around to position it that way. I started out cutting the rectangles and then pinstriping around them in white, and then I got smart and put the blue down in 9 inch strips and bisected them with white pinstripe (makes everything easier). :)
