All-

My name is John I recently happened upon a 03 Vento Triton R4 that had been badly wrecked and I purchased it for Dirt cheap. After getting the scooter home and going over it with a fine toothe comb I found that 98% of the electrical system is intact, as well as the frame, gas tank, and carb/throttle. The ignition had been torn off and is no longer there so I was able to find a wiring diagram on Vento's website so that I could hookup a flip switch (just for temp. use ONLY) so I could see what the electrical state is. The front plastics are completely gone, along with the front headlight assembly. The rear plastics, lights, Seat, Deck Cover, Instrament cluster, bottom splash guard, and left and right brakes, light controls, start and kill switch are all intact. I have followed the factory wiring diagram to the T and retraced all grounds, Disabled the onboard Alarm (thanks you guys), and have purchased a new battery. When I hold the left or right brake and press the starter button I get a loud click every time that is coming from the Relay/Starter Solenoid and nothing happens. I have checked all wiring and can not find anything disconnected. The Starter Motor looks Brand new, the rectifier is intact as well as the CDI. The coil looks like it is good. I have tried puting it on its foot stand and using the kickstarter but still nothing happens. Would any of you have anything else that I may try or any sugestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

John

My Zip had a really gunked up starter clutch gear and just spins and spin around never engaging the inner race dish to grab the crank to turn it. I don't care as I would really like to remove the starter motor since I would need to buy a new starter clutch gear. I was thinking yours is gunked stuck from belt debris like mine lots of belt junk gets caked all over these little clutches mine is stuck open yours may be stuck engaged however unlikely. you can take the cover off the belt and look at the starter motors gears and see what may be holding it up??? oh and charge the battery more...
