Hi all,
I just had to register to share this with you. I attempted to insure a 2005 Vino 125 with Kanetix. I'm 21 years old. Can you guess how much they quoted me?
$2995 yearly.
"It's not so bad," they said, "When you turn 25 it will go down to $1700!"

wow, i never even heard of them.
For that much of a premium, you could buy another Vino.
Is your driving and credit record trashed? Or did they give you another lame exuse for the high premium?

That is totally out of line. You should be able to get at least minimum coverage on your scoot for $100/yr "or less".

Wow! Thats more then I paid for full coverage on my car when I was living in NJ. I have Progressive and only pay $48 yearly for my Triton and $70 for my Strada. You might want to shop around some more.

In canada it costs me 30$ for one side coverage and 140$ for full coverage. I'm 19 years old.

Wow. Couldn't help but notice this conversation.
You guys have got it all wrong. Kanetix (http://www.kanetix.ca) is not an insurance company; they are an insurance quotes comparison service. If you have beef with the quotes you received, you should be mad towards the company that offered you the ridiculously high quote. Kanetix is here to help you by allowing you to compare a bunch of companies quotes in one shot.
While they don't include quotes from every insurance company out there, they do cover a lot of the big ones. So if your quote is high, dont be discouraged, keep shopping around. It's the only way to find the lowest motorcycle insurance quote.
If you're in Canada and you have questions about getting motorcycle insurance, (or any other kind of insurance) check out www.kanetixforum.ca (http://www.kanetixforum.ca)

The first step is to search for "free auto insurance quote" or "free car insurance quote" with your favorite search engine. You'll be directed to a web site where you enter the basic information that is required.

You best bet for motorcycle/scooter insurances in Ontario is Kingsway General Insurance. For my 2001 BWS (Zuma), I paid about $450 the first year. I was a new rider & this was my only vehicle. Most insurance companies (in Ontario at least) group scooters & motorcycles together and then put them in a high risk category. I was actually quoted $850 from one company (the Co-Operators) and State Farm wouldn't even consider insuring me unless I had another vehicle (car) insured with them.
Kingsway is the only insurance company willing to offer good rate for motorcycle insurance.

I have car, house and atv insurance with State Farm. Just got liability only for my 50cc for only $25 US a year. Didnt bother with collision for replacing my scoot since it is a 2003.

When I got my Piaggio BV 500 in Feb. 2009, I got quotes from two companies that claim to specialize in motorcycle insurance. The quotes were extremely high, with $400+ being the lowest quote, but for such low coverage as to be useless. The company AARP advertises was over $900. My home and auto insurer, The Hartford, doesn't insure motorcycles.
I called a local Allstate agent on the recommendation from a friend and got a good deal. The agent rides a motorcycle and we discussed riding while on the phone as he was taking my application and checking my credit score and driving record, etc.
I was surprised that Allstate had a reasonable rate. It would be even better if all my other insurance was with them. I'm 68 years old and don't have five years' experience riding a motorcycle, which makes for a little higher premium.
