I had stage 1 for about 1.5 years. Then I got a 70cc cylinder (cast iron) and ran with the stock carb and stock pipe for a month or so. Then I got the arreche carb from provo and put my tecnigas pipe back on, and so have pretty much a stage 2 setup except for the airbox. I put in the 95 jet and the plug comes out grey at idle and 3/4 throttle. At 1/2 throttle it's pretty close to the right color but it sputters a lot and doesn't seem happy. Am I missing something with the oil injection? I had to cut the oil line fitting off to fit the oil line (the smallest hose, I hope) onto the new carb. What could be wrong here. I'm at 5000 feet, and assumed the 95 jet would be more than large enough.

With the stock airbox and the 95 jet at 5k elevation, you may be a bit rich. I would remove the rubber elbow in the top of the airbox, and if that does not help you can drill some holes in the ouside panel of the airbox to get some more flow in there.

You can buy a kit that will have little filters to insert in the holes you drill in your airbox. I purchased one from the yamaha dealer here for my TW200, Pretty neato, I'll try to locate one and post a link.

But the problem is that the plug is showing lean with only the snorkel removed on the stock airbox. Like you said, it *should* be running rich, which is why I think something else may be wrong.

Update: turns out the problem was not having the clip installed to hold the choke in place. This causes all sorts of tuning grief. ;-) Now everything acts the way I'd expect.
