well this weekend i up'd my main jet in the stock carb on my 02 vnio classic. up'd to a 77.5. it seems to run abit quicker. i did a plug read on my street and the bridge on the plug was all white on the first run. the second run same thing. i think im still running a little too lean. i went ahead and removed the snorkle from the stock airbox before i did the plug read. i figure more gas the scoot will need more air right?! should i up the jet again or work with the 77.5 main jet. the only other jet i have is a 85. oh on my scoot i running a malossi red sponge filter and a gianelli shot pipe, and on the tranns i have the polini speed control vari., malossi red torque spring and malossi clutch springs. so what do you guys think up the main jet?

No need to remove the snorkel from airbox, it actually helps guide air and is not a restriction. If you're seeing white I would atleast try the upjet, even to 85 and see what it does. If way too rich and boggy, drill 2-3 small holes in airbox in a convenient location to help lean it out, experiment with size. If you'd like to revert back to 77.5 cover up holes with filler, tape, bolts etc..
That is what I'd recommend if you only have those two jets to play with.

thanks burnt i'll change out that main jet this weekend han have another go. and see how that goes again.. so i should reinstall the snorkle and drill some small holes in the airbox right? i remember my buddy telling something about drilling holes in the airbox so it can breath better. but can't i just delete the snorkle and drill more holes in the airbox?

i agree, leave the airbox & snorkel as it is & concentrate on getting the jets right for the stock carb, it is the proper thing to do.
