Hey all, I received a scooter that has been sitting since 2002 with only 460 miles on it. I got the scooter running nice but I was wondering if the battery could be revived if I charged it. Also would I have to remove the battery from the bike before I charged it? I have a standard car battery charger, is this the right type? Thanks!

I forgot to ask, If I just drive this scooter for a while would this sufficiently charge the battery?

if its been dead that long, it is most likely time for a new one.

1. If the battery has a deep discharge it is highly doubtful you will charge it up by just riding the scooter.
2. You do not have to remove the battery from the scooter to charge it
3. A std 6 or 12 volt 10 amp car/boat battery charger will soon destroy the plates in a small scooter battery
4. If you buy a new battery or get the old one charged up, you will need to have a Deltran Battery Tender Jr charger. They are made specifically for small 12 volt batteries like those in a scooter.
