07 triton gt5 problem

alright, i have an 07 triton gt5 still 50cc scoot. i ordered the 40 dollar cdi off ebay, and installed it. pretty straight forward install, or so i thought. when it was in, the engine started to miss at any rpm over idle. i took it out, and now even the stock cdi is doing the same. what did i do wrong? and what did i mess up that i have to replace now? i am new to this scooter thing, and an auto mechanic by trade, so thats why i am really baffled. has anyone had this issue before? i am guessing i either messed up the magneto, coil, or something. and before i went and just bought all new parts, i thought i would ask people that have dealt with these scoots before..... thanks in advance, heath
ps, as soon as i get this running, i want to upgrade to the stage 2 kit to get some more speed out of it.
