I purchased a 2004 Zuma about 4 days ago from a guy, and I'm having a few problems.

At first, the scooter was not wanting to start on the first crank. I investigated the spark plug, and I was able to remove the spark plug with my bare hand, as it wasn't tightened down. I replaced the plug, and it starts the first time every time.

Now, I put some 2 stroke oil in it and took it for a spin. When I get back, I see that there is oil on the exhaust. It's blue oil, so I think it's coming from a hose or something, and not getting in the engine.

Is the Zuma known for any oil leaks at "common sites?" I know little to nothing about Scooter mechanics, but is there anything obvious I should check for?

Finally, what other maintenance should I consider getting done, since I don't know the history of the bike. The mileage is approx. 2,600.

Thanks for any info.

did you overfill it? if not, you might want to remove some panels to get a better look.

I didn't overfill it. In fact, I didn't even fill the tank. I put about 1/8 of a quart in it just to finish off the quart.

I did lean my scooter to the side (probably at a 45 degree angle from the ground). Could that make it leak? I just realized that but not sure.
