Hey...I know they came out this Month..(DEC) But what do you think of the "BIG" 250cc Ruckus............Other than the "BIG" price tag..(MSRP..$5300) ......I like it!..A cubic centimeter for every pound I weigh!!.(LOL.I'm actually 6' 4")....though I hate the yellow color that it is only available in..(Easy Frame paint!!) Sorry no Pic available..See winter 2004 Scoot magazine..#30...Page#14... John From Jax :o

They are pretty cool, nothing else like it on the market. I like how the passenger seat can fold up and become a backrest too! It kinda reminds of a jeep, I can drive that baby up mount Everest and still casually scoot down to the local quicky-mart. Other than the price and color uhhh, option, it's a sweet scoot and a good example of function over form.

I saw the TN'G Baja the other day at The Scooter Lounge. It's pretty cool. Dave pointed out that if you lay it down, all you need is some stove paint to fix it up.

I like it!
I looked at the Ruckus before I got my Zuma.
I didn't want a 50cc 4 stroke for obvious reasons- but a 250- AWESOME!
I don't like the big black block behind the headlights.

I kinda posted This as (I CANT AFFORD IT!!) Dream. But I like the old school looks...It looks like the old hunting scooters I saw in "Outdoor life" in the 70's..when I was a kid..(Yea I am Dating Myself)...But...250cc..It's gotta have some kinda scoot Ass...!! :D

I love the Ruckus.... I am thinking about turning my Vento into a Ruckus look a like! You know, strip off all the plastic, and going bare bones with a diamond plate foot plate........

250cc .... yesssssssssssssssss
$5300 .... unhhhhhhhhhh crap.
If they were cheaper I'd love to get one - maybe make a sidecar for it. But I'd definately off-road on it. Take it deer hunting maybe. ha!

I love my Ruckus (in Desert Camo!) but I don't think I could justify the price of a Big Ruckus. Besides, I love the small, go anywhere size of the original.

The TN'G Baja's MSRP is only $2495. It only has a 150cc engine though.

how fast does the regular 50cc ruckus go?
i wouldnt buy the big ruckus for one reason...
too expensive.
but it looks very durable!
sticker price for a kawasaki ninja 250 is like 3k and they will do 115mph stock.
they arent for offroad, but there are probably other 200cc - 250's out there made for that sorta thing.
but for 5k id rather get the Kawasaki KLR650 , 650cc dual purpose.
good for offroad & its street legal.
kawasaki and suzuki both have some nice lower displacement motorcycles, thas what ive been looking into lately.

Your missing one important thing though, malformed. And that is, we like scooters. Street bikes are for guys who have to overcompinsate for their small wieners!

Davy, I agree, and disagree at the same time........
I HAD a Harley Davidson 1200cc Sportster (no need for compensation here ;) ) I sold it after I got a scooter..... why? scooters are more fun!!
NOW, there are SOME circumstances where I am sure compensation plays a role..... but you cannot say thats it %100 of the time........

i know, i like scooters too.
thats why i bought a scooter in the first place, instead of a cycle.
but with all my problems with my vento zip r3i, im looking for something a bit more reliable and sturdy. that will do 60+ stock. it doesnt need to do a wheelie, but it would be nice if accelleration was wicked fast. :)
that is why i asked what the 50cc ruckus would do as far as MPH, stock.
i just like to look at all the choices, thats all.
thinbluelion

A stock Ruckus will top out at 38-40 mph.
XPS1210
01-04-2005, 08:20 PM
no... it's the same motor and tranny as a metro and they top at 30 give or take a mph or 2...
Davey-boi
01-04-2005, 11:36 PM
I thought the metro I (restricted) did 30mph, the metro II goes about 40mph. Perhaps the ruckus' aren't restricted like the metro 1's and actually do go 40mph. I have no idea but thats probably why Thinbluelion said they go 40mph.
As for the overcompinsation comment, I was just playing around! But there are alotta crotch rocket dudes that are hot heads full of steam. Don't really care for street bikes. Harleys are sweet though. There are plenty of scoots out there that'll get you to 60+mph malformed. My mojito does 72mph, stock, with really good acceleration.

one of my biggest concerns is getting service for whatever i buy.
its just not going to happen with any scooter i buy here except maybe suzuki or kawasaki (if kawasaki even makes scooters?)
and MAYBE honda.
with a crotch rocket or other bike with a dealer & authorized shop in town, i can get the kawasaki or suzuki place to come get the bike and fix her up for me under waranty.
nothing against scooters, im just not equipped to work on them myself, and there doesnt seem to be any decent mechanics around here to do the work.
only shop i found willing to work on my vento, just happens to sell ventos.
and they still cant seem to get anything done right the first time and cant seem to get replacement parts for me, they end up pulling the parts off a new scooter in the showroom. :D
sorry to get off topic...
i realy like the big ruckus.
how fast do they go?
i wish they were cheaper.. show me a new one at the honda dealer for 3k and id go buy it tomarow.

Yes, here in Texas the stock Ruckus will do 38-40 mph. 43 with a CDI boost box. Not blazing speed, but its a blast to ride and I always get stares on it, of course it could also be the .30 caliber ammo cans I use as saddle bags :)

Davey- it's the Metropolitan II that is restricted to 25-30 mph. the regular Met will go 38-40, same engine as the Ruckus.
the battlescooter site has mods for the Ruckus that will work on the Met--but very pricey

There is a place in Tennesee that you can buy honda's at a big discount so if I get one it will be from them. they list for 5499 but I may even be able to get it for less than 4800 if I go in with cash. I dont know Im having to talk to my wife and see what she says.
