I work the late shift and go home at 2:00 AM. When riding a Honda Rebel and wearing a black leather jacket I could expect to be pulled over by the police at least once a week. The questions seemed to me to be what was I doing out so late at night on a motorcycle and their need to get close as what I thougth was their need to smell my breath to see if I had been drinking. I do not drink and I was going home from work always seemed to make them happy.
After purchasing a Yamaha Vino and a carhart bright yellow jacket with reflective tape all over it I soon noticed something strange. The cops would smile and wave at me as I passed. Was it the scooter or the ugly glow in the dark jacket? I beleive the world looks at scooterists differently. Good or bad :8wave: I don't care what people think. I have been riding the scooter for months and have never been pulled over. Whatever the reason I am now proud to be a scooterist.

Woohoo! There is something about scootering that cops don't mind. I go 55+ on mine, and they never say anything.

It's the difference in the image of who is riding which one. The Media has portrayed the Motorcyle rider as an outlaw, and some of the Motorcycle gangs have reinforced that. Motor scooters on the other hand are non-threatening, they are what the friendly, law abiding, next door Joe, rides.
