View Full Version : How to make your VINO go 50mph!

Compression ratio has something to do with it, because Aprilia SR50 stock goes 50mph de-restricted (washer+egsaust).
Vino's Compression Ratio
7.3:1
Aprilia SR50 Compression ratio
12.5:1
The 2nd difference is the carbourator. Vino's is 14mm, and Aprilia's is 18mm.
I allready derestricted my Vino. My next step is to get the kevlar belt, just so I am safe for next 100k miles, and a new carb 19mm, which should get me at about 50mph?
How would you alter the compression ratio?

I'm sure there is more of a difference... IE: gearing... etc...
If you want to make the compression higher... simply get a belt sander and sand the head down... just make sure you don't take to much...
some say to run without gaskets but I don't think that's a good idea...
Simple way to make higher compression...

How fast do you go with all your mods on?

one of my mechanic friends say different, that say use a piston with more material on top.. that would increase CR or shave the bottom of the cylinder head. I am thinking it would be better to use a piston with more material on top.
regarding the engine life, he says it is not affected, but the more likely your engine is to have detonation or pre-ignition (knock). (if you allow your engine to have detonation or pre-ignition, you could instantaneously destroy your pistons and break the top ring area into bits and pieces)
i might be in search of a piston like that.. anybody?

with all my mods... I'm hitting a big 55mph... that's prior to the over range being installed and the MHR rep cylinder...
the cylinder I am using now has some scoring on it so it needs to be replaced...
I'm hoping for over 60 with the new parts... however can't test till april time frame...
there are places that sell pistons only... you might be able to find a HIGH compression one that'll fit your cylinder....however the head shaving is more universal and doesn't cost anything if you have the tools to do it...

you can make that vino smoke that aprilia. aprilia 200lbs+, vino less than 150lbs. if you dont want to get a big bore race kit, then put some compression into that motor and port out the cylinder some, not a lot just a lil bit.

I test rode a derestricted Aprilia SR50 last year at Motostrada in Baltimore, and it topped out at 46mph. Mark said the only way it would go any faster was to add on aftermarket parts.

My Guti derestricted tops out over 50mph. My speedo only goes to 50mph and i bury it all the time. Im sure its not 100% correct but its pretty fast.

the only difference between vino and your f-12 is that you got more compression. i am affraid to mess with compression so the engine does not blow up or heh, piston may melt :)

my stock jog went close to 50mph and jogs and vinos have the same motor. dont worry about blowing your motor up, that thing is so restricted that you will never blow it up in stock or close to stock form. your bike wont rev enough to do any damage to it. just keep your injector intake and everything will be fine.

Dealer must have meant 55 kph which is roughly 34 mph.
If your Vino can get 55 mph already, then why bother with a 70 cc kit??

Or any part, or for that matter why none of the 250 memebrs been able to do so

Well it appears that Jered was locking this thread as I split it, and he locked the split end. So I'm following his lead here and locking this one too before it becomes an all out debate.
This needs to be... Finished before it gets out of hand...
Sorry, but a majority of the members here have staged their scooters and such...
IMO and many others there is no way a "STOCK" Vino can get to 50 mph...
Not possible unless your rolling downhill and being pulled by something!
Just isn't gonna happen, even derestricted...
With that being said... If yours does... By all means meet up with another member and have them verify it! Until then...
I see no reason to further the "it can" "it can't" topic...
