Ewwww, majesties are gross! The only maxi scooter worth getting is the scarabio 600, now that baby looks good. It got a great review in scoot quaterly too, but some didn't like the styling, wierd.

I just purchased a Majesty. After test riding both a Zuma and the Majesty, it was the Majesty hands down.
The Zuma could not get out of its own way. It took me two blocks just to get to 30 MPH, wide open throttle. Yeah, I know you can get them to go much faster, with aftermarket exhausts, 70 cc kits, etc. But I don't need a project, I need transportation. I like the light weight of the Zuma (the Majesty is 443 lbs dry), but the motor is really underpowered at 50 cc, and the brakes are way too small. Even if you could get one of those to 60 MPH, you can't stop it easily. I own three other sport bikes, including a Yamaha R1, so I really want any bike I own to stop fast. I am also not a lightweight guy, at over 200 lbs. I live in a area with some steep hills, and the stock Zuma has no chance of keeping up with traffic on those streets.
The Majesty (I like everything but the name), on the other hand, will do 80 to 100 MPH on the highway, out of the box. Its got 13 and 14" wheels, so you can get decent performance rubber (real radial tires, for example). Brakes are OK. I'll going to look into some EBC pads for better grip (I can't lock the wheel with the current pads under braking). Power is OK with the 400 cc single, and the bike can keep up with most cars under 200 HP. Its a bit heavy, but you really don't notice this while riding. Its got a sidestand, so you don't have to get off the bike and force it up on a center stand to park. Its also got a neat parking brake which locks the rear wheel. I wish I had this feature on all my bikes, because it keeps the bike from moving on the sidestand. This is great if you park on hills or uneven pavement (or you have an earthquake like we do here in CA).
The Majesty's larger size tends to get you some respect in traffic. If you didn't know better, you might think its a 1 liter touring bike. So its safer to ride in suburban settings. You get in front of someone in traffic around here in a Zuma, they will try everthing they can to get around and in front of you. And I hate having to ride small scooters on the right in the bike lanes, because cars cut you off all the time by making right turns across your path.
The downside is weight and cost. I would have liked this bike better at 350-375 lbs, but Yamaha does not skimp on fit and finish and materials, so its heavier than, for example, the Suzuki Burgman. I could not find a Burgman locally, but I have read reports from people who have the Burgman and would prefer the Yamaha. I got some discount from the MRP, but it still cost over $6K out the door.
Does anyone know if aftermarket exhausts are available for the Majesty? Apparently, this bike has been in production in Europe for a number of years, but I cannot find anyone with an exhaust system. This 2005 US model has a cat as well, so that complicates the fitment of an exhaust if a Lamda sensor is installed to sense A/F ratios. The bike is fuel injected, which means any tuning must be done by re-programming the ECU. Dynajet has ECUs for Euro versions of the Majesty, but not for the brand new US version.

You can get a performance exhaust from the german based sip-scootershop.com. The shop is great, they take US currancy and everything.

Thanks for the info. I'll check them out.
Any idea if Provoscooter will start carrying performance items for the Majesty?

Doubt that will ever happen, I don't expect anyone even to make parts for it. I'm perplexed why you'd even test ride both of them??!! That's like debating whether you're buying a Lincoln or a Kia, a Hatteras 23 or a Sheppard, a Cessna 152 or a Boeing 777.

Yeah it's like comparing apples to caviar. A 50 cc $2 k scooter to a 400 cc $6 k scooter????---now which one will be faster and have more options? With that much $ to play with there are alot more scooter choices out there--the Scarbeos are really nice, then there's the Vespa GT
