I drilled the 3/4" hole and removed the snorkel from the airbox and it is running good now. I have my mixtur screw a little over 1 1/2 turns to get it to quit bogging when you blip the throttle. It still wont start without using staring fluid could my electric choke not be working right? and when it is sitting idling the rpm's will slowly start to creep up a bit and you can feel the clutch wanting to engage not real bad though. Is it time for me to put my new variator and clutch on now? what weights do I use in my variator and what springs in my clutch red or white? I rode it and its is about the same as stock untill you hit about 32-33 and then it takes off.

I'm glad its finally running... Although, you should not need starting fluid!! It is bad, no lube in it!!! Take out the choke, and watch and see if it acctuates... OR don't you have antother whole kit sitting there? Try the other one!!!!
I would start with around 4 grams each for the weights..... And use the white springs first. You may not be happy with it, and have to rearrange, but that is a good starting point....

i would still get a new spark plug ive had plugs still putting out spark but they were bad made my scooter pop and sputter, also i believe the 4.3gram weights thats what my leovince zx pipe install manual says to use for the zuma.

oh those plugs also made it hard to start.

I just removed the choke and hit the start button and it did nothing. What is it supposed to do? Move up and down? And the weights which is the 4 gram? Silver, black, gold? I am wanting alot of torque to do wheelies which is the best set up for that? It doesnt matter which wires you hook up to each other on the choke does it?

no, the wires DO NOT matter. When cold, the choke should move! The lighter the weight, the more torque.
Here is a link for more torque.... MOD (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=502&highlight=technomoto) one thing has changed though!! Do not grind these completely flush!! Leave about 1-2 mm.....
~~~~~~~~~~ADDED~~~~~~~~~~
The Stock roller weights on the Zuma are 6.5g
The techno vari kit comes with 3 different sets of roller weights
The silver ones = 3.5 g
The Black ones = 5.5 g
The brass ones = 9 g
These are the weights naked. Add 1.7g after fitted in the caps.
I drilled out the silver ones to get 2.1 g naked. This made a huge difference.
The "off the line umf" is way better now.
For some reason none of my automatic chokes are working. My second isnt working or my stock one. When you hit the start button is it supposed to pull up or am I supposed to hold it up and see if it push down?
Lennox
you know, I have never watched an "Automatic" choke before.... I was "Assuming" you would be able to see movement? Jered, you live in the "Frozen Tundra" didn't you switch to manual choke? What was your choke problem>not engaging?
I still think primers are WAY better than chokes anyday! That way, it would be like you using "Ether" except it is your premixed gas that is going in. This way, you ALWAYS have "lube"
Do they make primers for them?
yup....
Is that what you have on yours? Are they hard to install?
Lennox
so far I have not needed anything, not even the choke.... I live in S.Fla., and it has not gone below 60 yet this year.
Now, on my 1200cc waverunner I have that exact primer kit. 3 pumps, and it starts right up every time!
Very easy to install as well..... splice right into the fuel line, and your done!
I went with a manual choke because the auto choke would kick on while riding... these at at below 40 degree temps...
I'm thinking I like the primer thing but how does it run with cold weather?
I orderd my two primers today and they should be in by next wednesday so I hope to be up and running by next sunday I am sure I will have some tuning to do on the clutch and variator and then I get to start on my wifes scoot.
I tried to put on my primer today but I cant get it on. The instructions say toremove the butterfly valve in the carb and press the fitting in one of the mounting holes on the carb, considering I dont have a butterfly valve on the carb because it is electric choke. what do I do? This is all I am lacking to putting it back together and installing the clutch and variator.
Lennox
yeah, those instructions are for larger carbs with manual style choke plates..... you have 2 options....
Option#1 remove oil injection (i recomend this) and use that hole for the primer. Stuck tubing right on nipple.
Option#2 drill a SMALL hole in the intake boot right above the reed cage, and install fitting there....
Either way will work just fine.... Glad your getting to close! ;)
Well I finished my scoot yesterday and rode it and now when it gets to about 40 mph it dies but when you let the speed drop back down it does fine. Any ideas?
Lennox
sounds like its time to tune your carb
I found out what it was, my vacume line on the carb was sucking air so it wasnt getting enough fuel. Now it is time for my variator and my clutch but I am going to wait so I can take some of my weights to work and drill them out to get the weight I want. I am so close and this weekend was a perfect weekend to ride. Lennox have you got a speed reading on your scoot since you finished it?
Jeremy, I am glad your sccot is finaly running good. When are you gonna start the second one? :D
I still have to put my variator and my clutch on but I dont think that is going to be a problem. I am hoping to get to it this week but I have alot of stuff to do for our wedding on the 17 of this month so it will probably be the first of february before I can get started on it. Man that sounds nice to be out on the water it was warm enough here this weekend to go but I still think the water is to cold, and in plus I sold my ski about a year ago and bought a ski boat then it fell off the trailer going down the interstate so needless to say all I have now is an aluminum hunting boat with a mud motor on back but it gets me on the water so I cant complain. Oh and Jered you may have 23 hours of daylight to ride in one month but I think we make up for it around here considering we can ride 10 or 11 months out of the year. LOL. Just thought id point that out. Thanks again for all of yalls help I really appreciate.
yup....
Is there a larger picture of that choke?
Lennox
this is not a choke, it is a primer....... (better than a choke)
How and where would that install?
Lennox
with your new intake, you would leave one hole unplugged and attach it there.... then splice into the fuel line..... The plunger can be drilled through your scoot just about anywhere.....
I see. I will see how my scooter starts once I stop being lazy and put it back together.
I wanted to put a boost bottle and NOS on the manifold.
I am 99.9% sure your piston isn't going to like it...
Where can you get gaskets and rings for 70cc kits without rebuying the whole kit?
XPS1210
01-07-2005, 04:02 PM
did you order the cylinder from provo?
He should be able to get a replacement gasket, rings and piston without having to replace the whole set up... however it depends on brand, and such what he can do...
Malossi I know sells each part seperately not sure if the airsal guys do or not...
SychoSly
I didn't get my cylinder kit from provo.
Wouldn't the gaskets and rings be somewhat similair on the 70cc kits?
Tehre are probably 100 or more combinations of piston diameters, materials, compressions and all the other factors that you could add in...
So nope... there isn't a one since fits all set... you could probably email erich and ask if he can get the parts you need... or go through who you bought your parts from and see if they can help you out...
check out malossi's web site there are several piston sizes for just the cylinders they have listed...
Shouldn't be to hard to get but you are probably gonn have to match the replacement parts with the part number on the cylinder to make sure you get the right parts and don't mess it up more...
My stuff is not messed up...yet. (knock on wood)
I just wanted to know because if I do do Nitrous then I just wanted to know where I can get replacement parts.
