Got bored today and did little spray painting on my '08 Raven Zuma. I spray painted the cargo rack flat black, and I painted the grey "lower fairing" red. I also painted a few of the screws black to match the plastic and I took off the warning stickers. It looks pretty decent I will post pics in a few hours.

I suppose I will repaint the parts every season, will have to see how the paint holds up.

Have you thought about Red Bug eyes..or Red front fender? Looks good so far..have never seen what you're doing before..except the old Yamaha red/White dirt bikes.(remember?..red seat?) Just my opinion, but You need to loose that rear fender.

I removed the really long lower portion of the rear fender today. Hadn't really thought of painting anything else red, but I might.
Also ordered the Stage 1 upgrade package today. Can't wait to get rid of the stock pipe.
Is there a write up on how to do the throttle mod for the 08's? I've read on here that they have the throttles restricted on the new Zumas.
Painted my cargo rack black as well. I think it looks ALOT better that way. Your scoot looks great! I had to lose the stickers though... They are a bit cheap looking. I have better quality bumper stickers on my cager!!!

Ok.. how about black and gold? Wasn't really feeling the Red Tribal graphics and gold seems to be my favorite color recently.

The gold part would get dirty fast.
Anyway, custom color is always awesome

Did you install the entire stage one kit? Did you have to change the carb to get it to run right because of the restrictions and such. I figure if you switch the carb and the exhaust then it becomes basically a 05 zuma, right?

This thread is pretty old. I ditched the RS pipe, went to an Airsal 70 cc cylinder and am running the stock '08 pipe with '05 carb with larger main jet. I like to call it the "no drama" Stage 1 kit. About the same performance, but with alot less revs and noise, and better economy.

did you get pulled over a lot with the rs pipe on? i was thinking about buying 70cc and i was wondering if you got pulled over a lot? does the 70cc kit work with the stock pipe? cause i have the leo vince zx pipe. does your kit work?
Why would one get pulled over more for having a RS on more than not? Sound? I believe you can run 70cc on a 05 or older pipe. You have that Head, right? The thing with getting pulled depends on the state. If able, I would plate and not worry about it. I got the Leo as well and like it, not too loud.

I never got pulled over with the RS pipe. It is street legal. It just sounded annoying to me. After having loud motorcycles and cars for so long, I am starting to want my vehicles to be not so noisy.
Yes, you can do the 70 cc kit with a stock pipe. It won't be as fast as it could be though. The stock pipe simply doesn't flow well enough and holds back your power. There are guys with Stage 1 50 cc setups that have higher top speeds than me and maybe even the same acceleration. I suggest you try it out... you can always upgrade your carb and pipe if it is not enough performance for you.

I like the light switch (or lack there of), I would hate to find out the hard way if the power is still on, at least something would light up

Just ditch the rack altogether, looks better without it, imo

How would you hoist it onto its sidestand without the cargo rack? You have to have something to grab.
Have had my rack on and off, but I think it looks better on. Especially painted black! Does make it easier to get on the stand. Wish the Zuma came stock with a side stand like the Vino 125.

I just grab the handle bars and pull back while putting all my weight on the center stand, try it a couple times and you will get the hang of it. You can also do like you do when using the rack but grab under the rear just in front of the fender instead of using the rack.

I good friend of mine was a diehard Kawasaki MotoCross rider, and he painted his VW Rabbit Kawaski green......... just like that.

It's Sherwin William's. I work in an autobody shop so i did it all there. Detextured all the plastics and primed. It is a custom lime green I made with a tri-coat that has gold pearl in it...very sweet in the sun!! (9 coats of paint!!!)
Anything that helps you stand out is a good thing. Looks great!

I LOVE the black rack and was considering powder coating but the cost got me! What did you do to prep the rack before painting. Mat black?
