alright, heres a quick rundown: stock 2002 zuma, 197 miles, has done alot of sitting around, when i got this project i completly draind all gas from tank, draind the oil res. new plug, dissasembled carb and cleaned folowing the service manual on this site. ran the blow test on auto choke but did not hook up battery to test choke.cleaned air cleaner. now here is what it is doing now: it will start up first kick no problem and seems to idle ok, as soon as you give it any throttle it bogs out and dies. well playing around i found that if i covered air intake of the air cleaner until the bike either died or almost died it will run fine for a few minutes, in fact during test ride as long i stayed on the throttle it ran fine but once the rpm came down to idle speed any throttle input would kill it. I am out of ideas. the only other thing i tried was disconnecting the auto choke unit plug but that didnt seem to have any effect. also there dosent seem to be much diffrence if the bike is cold or hot.

any ideas would be appreciated

thanks

my 1982 honda express did the same thing untill I took apart my carb and just cleaned out everything and made my main jet a bit bigger. I also fooled with the air/idle/idontknow screw on the outside of the carb. im not to sure how I fixed mine but just fool around with it, im pretty sure its all carb related

Blow test on autochoke? You mean the suck test on the fuelcock? .laugh..

Sorry, I had to...Maybe your autobystarter is malfunctioning. Do test it.

Plugging the snorkel on the airbox will manually "choke" your carb and it will stall.
