Okay so far I've had a ported 70cc T6 cylinder on my Triton with good results, but that is now sold. T6 had good power, but vibrated a lot and having bridged exhaust sucked..
I have a new stock 50cc Zip which I plan to kit out soon, but looking for some input about reliability and power. Not looking to spend a whole lot either. Goals for setup are good gas mileage, reliability, and atleast 50mph cruise speed. I plan on keeping stock exhaust and using 19mm arreche w/ allweather polini filter.
Options:
1. Go with another T6 and get used to vibration lol...... $140+shipping
2. Try T6R if I could find one, is it any better?...... $??? how much more is it?
3. Polini Contessa 2ring cast iron, are these kits any good? ......$185shipped from ebay
4. Athena aluminum kit, heard this was 2 ring, where can I find one?....$???
Please let me know what yall think about these options and if you'd suggest anything else. Thanks! :c:
Things like Corsa and Evo are out since they're way too pricey.

The Corsa/R is a better and more powerful kit. What about a MHR rep?

Either of those are big $$, I'm only looking for 50mph and good gas mileage both of those rev high and eat lots of fuel.

The Corsa/r is only like $225. How about an Athena from TC or a Metrakit from TSC?

Yeah but I'm trying to stay well under $200shipped, plus corsa may be for my other project so saving on that one ;)

you go with a metrakit HM, they dont rev too high and they are pretty cheap.

Yeah I think the Metrakit cyl look pretty good.
Has anyone actually used a T6R? From what I remember its a 2ring alum cyl with slightly better ports what are opinions on that cylinder?

I had the T6R, but I can't compare it to a stock T6. My bottom end on the T6R wasn't
that much different than the MHR-R, but the top speed was significantly less. You'll
want a lower revving motor to match up with the stock pipe. The T6R is big money
compared to a contesta.

takegawa S - Stage 68cc. 2 rings http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/9255/borekitwithcylinderheadgi2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
the head is fully polish, nice smooth bowl finish, knife edge, transfer ports got shorter metal plates than like stock 49cc, got big oval shape on rear cylinder wall boost port. exhaust port is big like corsa, rough finish.
and their few japanese bore brands out there , and daytona 71cc 2 rings. from japan made

Correct, I'm interested in a lower reving cylinder to match up with the stock pipe. I'm not trying to invest much in this scooter and use it mostly to save gas, 42mph at 50cc just isn't cutting it.. heh

not really, Takegawa gets it's 2stroke aftermarket kits from Polini, i have th latest catalog from Takegawa & it clearly shows they are the japan distributor of Polini parts & vice versa. :)

but the kit on the pic is not a polini, it just looks like another taiwan made kit in a takegawa box, japanese don't make great 2stroke tuning parts & they are way overpriced than their italian counter parts, give me Malossi or Polini anyday.

Well I've made my decision today.
Decided to go with another T6 (not T6R), stock porting with 2ring piston. ::handleba
Just can't beat what you get for the price. :)

If you weren't keeping the stock pipe I would have pushed you towards the Athena. It is single ring. Locally I think its $195.
From what I am told, it revs higher and has similar ports to the Corsa, and it may be faster.
(Update on my situation: My replaced gauge, leaks water and the tac stumbles showing lower RPM on occasions. I am waiting on a center stand spring to come in. When I take it in I will have them look at front and rear breaks which are both making noise. Once I get these issues fixed, I only have the cylinder left to buy and install it with the rest of the parts.)

damn man sucks that you're having all these issues.
Yeah I bet Athena would be a good cylinder, but I'm trying to stay conservative with this setup and just want to get decent speed and good gas mileage.
I have my other scooters if I want to go faster ;) :naught:
