you need to close the ignition loop behind the switch.

Of course that isn't going to solve all your problems. How are you going to fuel it? Open the seat?

If you have the key number your Yamaha dealer can get you a replacement. If not, go to a real locksmith and have them impression the key.

Dude, it's a piece of cake. I had to do it once when I lost my key and had to get to work. Yeah I don't want this info it be used to steal scoots but I guess if someone was going to steal it they would find a way anyhow...
Take off the panel that is normally in front of your legs when riding to expose the wiring and key barrel. There will be a nylon plug for a single wire in the wiring coming from the barrel. Unplug it. This will enable the ignition. You will have to use a piece of wire to bridge across two plugs to enable the lights and indicators... I can't remember right now exactly how I did it but i'm pretty sure it's a red wire. Hope this helps.

take your ignition down to a locksmith. I had a set of keys made for mine and it cost me $40.00, after I lost my spare.
