I bought my Honda Elite Sa50 like 2.5 years ago with a blown up motor for $250. I was in the process of rebuilding it and my friend died in a motor cycle accident that was helping me build it up. We were about to crack the case and put in a new crank, seals, etc. After he passed its been sitting here and his friend was gonna help me with the rest of the rebuild. I thought I could find a whole new motor instead of rebuilding the one I have and I finally found one for $100. Its from a '98 Honda Dio SR50. Supposevly it was rebuilt about a year ago and you I just need to throw a carb and cylinder on it. First of all...whats the difference between the SA50 and the SR50? I already have a 70cc Polini Big Bore Kit to put on it. I have a few of my friends parts from his house that he had laying around to include on my moped and was gonna make this a "In memory of..." project and airbrush the whole thing after with his racing number and some graphics he liked. From the sounds of it this SR motor is universal with the SA but seems like you can make it faster then the SA motor. I have a lot of work to do with this scooter but this is the biggest obstacle....getting a running motor! Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
