Here it is. No finish on it yet, but I'm leaning towards leaving it as is. I kinda like it.

Did you use primer? If not, be ready to re-paint it in about a month.

I'll paint it next year. In a month it'd be too cold to ride in Chicago, and it'll be in storage. The whole process was easier than I had expected. I'll give it a new theme the next time. $12 dollar paint job lol.

Yeah, actually I quit cold turkey a couple years ago after almost 20 years of a two to three pack a day habit. But sometimes all I have to do is see something...like a pack of cigarettes just sitting there minding it's own business and my pulse increases and I start to salivate! It's doing it now, in fact.
What part of Chicago you in?

Was near O'Hare on the NW Side in Harwood Heights but now in Roselle next to Schaumburg. And soon to be in AZ...I've had it with this weather! This last winter pushed me over the edge.

I live in the part of Roselle called Keeneyville (Lake and Gary)...it's even colder in here due to all the trees. I'll drive up Lake Street, turn into Keenyville and the temperature has to be 10 degrees colder and you can feel it immediately. It's like living in the forest preserve over here with the cooler temps plus all the wildlife living right behind my house.
I close on my AZ house the middle of next month. If I ever want to see snow again, I can cruise over to Flagstaff...but I won't!

Psh, that's what you say now... Wait until your very dry and un-white Christmas. The first year is okay, but people always end up missing the snow. Until they come back for it that is. That's when they start remembering why they left in the first place. Ha ha.

You're probably right! I kind of had an appreciation for the snow this last winter (looking at it, NOT going out in it) I think because it looks so much nicer here in the "country."
Actually, Kingman AZ is where I'm moving and they're supposed to have some snowfall in the winter but it melts by mid-morning. I think that's sufficient.
If I miss Chicago too much I can always get into a tub filled with ice until the cold causes unbearable pain. Also, I can bring along and expose myself to some viles containing the cold and flu virus for when I'm really missing home!
I tell you what I'll really miss though...Lou Malnati's!

Oh goodness... If you consider yourself from the Chicago area, you MUST try Pizza Metro before you head out to the state of deserts and canyons. Guaranteed best pizza in the Chicagoland area.
From what I can tell, there seems to be a bigger scooter following in the SW regions. You taking yours?

I was born and raised and lived next to Little Italy Harlem Avenue and return to the area at least once a week . And as you know, this area where I am now near Schaumburg is also heavily Italian and Italian cuisine and I thought I've heard all the big names in Chicago pizza. I've never heard of Pizza Metro. I've been known to travel way outside my comfort zone in search of different pizzas too so it's odd that the name doesn't at least ring a bell.
Is Pizza Metro a big name down by you? I know you're closer to Little Italy Taylor Street, I used to go to Taylor but haven't been there in a couple years. I'm going to have to look it up.
Definitely bringing the Vino. I bought a 25 foot moving truck with the idea that I'd have to have room for all my crap and my scooter, hopefully it gets there in one piece. I found one person in Kingman on Provoscooter but he hasn't posted in a long time. I would've though that there was a following out there.

I just looked up Pizza Metro. I know the areas of both the locations very well, I can't believe I've never heard of them. In fact, there's one at 925 Ashland and I was writing for a local comedy tv show that filmed on the 1000 block. I crashed my scooter and broke my knee right on the corner of Chicago Ave at Ashland too.
And I used to hang out at Division and Western years ago when it was really rough, apparently that was just a few blocks from the location at 1700 Division.
Anyway, I'm intrigued now after reading the reviews when I was looking it up. I'm going to have to head over soon...hope there's no shootings while I'm there!

Yup, the reviews should tell you all! The one on Ashland is called Pizza Metro 2 (or Too). I believe they have the same owner, but I've never really been there. One's patio seating (Division) and one's indoors (Ashland). I recommend the outdoors one for a nice summer night. It's BYOB there, and there's a liquor store down the street.
As far as I know, that area is Bucktown. A few of my friends have lived in the neighborhood and it never really seemed that bad, relatively speaking. I live in a neighborhood supposedly inhabited by mobsters (Daley's from here lol), on a street where 3 of the houses got robbed in the past 2 months. You can't light a fire cracker around here without someone returning fire haha (joke).
When you go, try their garbage! It's awwwwesom.

Ironically enough, a friend of mine called me today and asked me to go with him next Saturday to a felony expungement legal workshop at Clemente HS. So I'm going to stop by Pizza Metro afterward.
I've seen reference to the area as Ukranian Village, Wicker Park and something else that I can't think of. Not sure what the real name is. I used to party in the area in the early 90's when it was overflowing with gang activity and shootings.
The area had improved considerably 2 years ago, the time I started going to 1000 Ashland to write for the show. But there was still plenty going on including gang shootings while I was there.
Your area is a mixture now, used to be heavily Irish from Daley days and then of course, you have Taylor street which is right there and was mostly Italian.
Quite a mix there now too.
Here's a little recent-ish Chicago mob history lesson:
As I mentioned, I grew up off of Harlem Avenue and lived there until last year. The top mobsters lived about 3 miles straight south of me in River Forest, Elmwood Park and some in Oak Park. The first two towns particularly had an unwritten, well known rule that you DO NOT commit any crimes there, not only for their own members to obey but to all Chicago hoodlums connected or not.
Then a few guys decided to go all out and actually burglarize THE TOP boss, Tony Accardo's house. In time, it was discovered who they were and they were all found tortured and murdered. Neat huh?
Anyway, Accardo and most other Elmwood Park and River Forest mobsters are dead or moved from the area. And while it's still a nice area and like your neighborhood now, anybody who wants to commit crimes there now can do so without fear of being slapped around.
And as you know if you've followed the news, the last of the old timers were tried and convicted this last year. The most recent boss, Joey "The Clown" Lombardo was found, after 8 months, hiding out in a friends house in Elmwood Park with a Saddam Hussein style beard.
This concludes today's history lesson.

lol you sure you're attending a felony expungement workshop for your friend, and not yourself?

I'm sure you'll enjoy the pizza. I tend to talk up my favorite joints quite a bit, but believe me, it's not hype! Quite an interesting history lesson, though.
Hey I chanced upon your old post about Vino brakes, which ones did you end up going with? (I'd PM you with the question, but your PM box is full. lol)

Thrice charged but never convicted. It cost me lots of money, so now I behave myself. Spent all morning at this thing with my buddy and as it turns out, the great state of Illinois won't expunge for most infractions, what a waste.
BUT, the highlight was the pizza. It was very good. Crust was actually similar to Lou Malnatis regular crust, as opposed to the butter crust which is what I usually order. I especially like that you can get a slice "to order." I ended up ordering two slices with different toppings.
We sat outside because apparently the owner is a cheap ba$tard and won't run the air conditioner...our waitress wasn't happy about this.
And speaking of hot, lots of nice looking females walking by made sitting outside even better!
Tons and tons of scooters driving by too was pretty cool. I still can't believe that's the same area that 10-15 years ago was as violent as they came. Who'd a thought a couple white boys (or anyone) would be sitting at a table on Division, eating?
Thanks for the tip, I really enjoyed. I'd like to make at least another trip there before I move. I actually have a taste for some now, makes me wish I would've ordered a whole pizza so I could've had leftovers!
I ordered some Molossi brakes a while back. Then I found a cheap set of brakes from an eBay seller. They are Japanese and are called SOK. The guy's right over here in Naperville so I figured if he sold me a junk product, I'd just cruise on over and send the brakes flying through his front window.
Anyway, they turned out to be very good.
I put the Malossi in the rear and the SOK in the front and so I have a set of each for the next time as well.
My rear Malossi's are squeaking a little, but not the SOK. And the SOK has double the amount of brake material too. The Malossi brakes are supposed to have "cooling grooves" in the brake material...what a gimmick! On one set, the cooling grooves were hardly there, if at all.
For $7-8 per set, you can't beat it. The guy is Asian and originally listed these SOK brakes for use on the '97-2000 Vino. I told him that those model years don't exist in the US and that they likely will fit 2001-2005 at least. I assume he changed his description as I had recommended.

I have all my panels off right now. They will be shipped out on Tuesday to a friend of mine in Baltimore for a Pimp Paint job. I'll post pics. See my progress in the photos section. It's actually a Geely, but same thing.
