Here is an idea for an all-you-need-in-one-package-kit Stage 3.5

MHR Reed Cage
MHR 70cc
MHR over range tranny with gears, springs and weights
MHR Crankshaft
28MM D-slide Carb
MHR Pipe
MHR Delta Clutch with bell housing

Edit:changed it to 3.5 since anything in crank case is above a 3

I do have a question about this setup-

28MM carb?

Erich said that is what I should get. Well he said that or the 24MM since really it comes down to the jetting/tuning. "The D-slide has a "little fuel drip thingy" that gives is a tad more fuel at WOT- like a little boost." That was a quote from Erich- any one else have insight on this?

I see some 70cc kits running on the 19MM? Is this jetting to the max or ___?

Just trying to see if 28 is the way to go or ___?

ps- my "quote" from Erich was as close to word-4-word as I can remember.... Not speaking for Erich- just passing info along the best I remember.....

From what I get out of it... a 19mm carb is capable of running a 70cc carb fine... My jetting is a 95 main jet...

No other changes... I imagine your gonna run a smaller jet then what I do in compairison... however the needle in mine is ROUND! which isn't as good as the flat or "D" needles...

IMO it will work either way just a matter of the final parts you install..

IE: lennox's 105cc wouldn't be best with a 19mm carb...

rpm's also factor in.... higher rpm's need more air volume/velocity..... otherwise you may "choke" the motor.... needles are needles for the most part.. however, as said before a flat slide has better top end--a round slide has better low end, and the "D" has the best of both....

**added**

my motor would MELT with a 19mm!! On a 2 stroke the fuel/carburation aid in cooling the engine!

so... MM's scoot will be a stage 2.5? Then I guess my Vino will wind up being a stage 1.5. I just got my stage 1 kit from Provo and really think I want to keep it at 50cc. It's all about the "getting the most from the least" thing I'm into with my Vino. I am planning on doing the Over Range if it will work to expectations with my Next R. I'm getting all sorts of conflicting feedback on that, but Jered knows what I'm looking for. I'll keep you posted. :)

I was on another forum the other day seeking feedback on these issues and met a man there that's into the same think. He's currently riding an Italjet that was stage 2, but took it back to 50cc. He rides with a big scoot club on long island and says he has no problem running with the big boys. I told him about this forum and he promised me he would be showing up. He's about my age and I really think he'll be a great addition!

re. my last post... he's in love with the Vino and really wants to dump his present scoot for one. Like me, he also rides motorcycles and had a really bad experience with his "bought new" Yam R1 with his local Yamaha dealer. Ergo, he's leaning toward an equivalent TN'G. Whatever he decides to do, he's definately one of the faithful! LOL Which reminds me... I need to reply to his last message... I really do hope he joins us!

So what do you guys recommend?

I mean the difference in 19 vs 28 is HUGE in my mind....

with the high rpm's that the mhr revs, I would use at least a 24+..... I think 19 is borderline...

Cool-

That is what I was hoping to hear...

I see a few post out there saying 19MM's are fine but didn't pay attention to which 70cc kit they were going with. I guess whatever it is that it doesn't rev as high as the MHR and that is why they can get away with the 19's.

Erich said I could use a 24 but that they are using a lot of the 28's on ATV's and they are working great. As you can see I like tried and true methods....

A 28mm is 2.2 times larger than a 19mm when looking at the cross-sectional area of the carb. The local shop here had a hard time getting a 28 to work on a Polini 70cc kit. Just never ran right. It either would not idle, or would bog out at WOT. They swapped out for a 19 and it runs very strong....

you can use a 19mm carb to run a 68 or 70cc bore kit. in europe the international rules limit the carb size to 19mm for the 70cc scooters. i dont know why that is but factory malossi and polini both have bikes that reach 90mph plus with that small of a carb. if you are not running a complete race set up then go with a 21mm carb. that will work for every type of riding, race or street.
