I'm actually perplexed by this, aerodynamically the windshield should create more drag.

Drag or not, those huge windshiels look totally stupid any way you put it!

Don't let Vinnie (Reno) hear that. You know, I really like the way the bugsheilds looked on the old Lambrettas and Vespas with the half clear, half checkered look. I'll level with you the little one I have, I plan to remove. I don't like how it looks, nor for the fact that it's not serving it's purpose. I installed a little one to keep glare off of the speedo.

Windshields suck - even if they do "shield" the wind and bugs and such. Now mirrors - Mirrors rock. the more the better

A windshield could make a scooter more areodynamic I would think- wind would roll off that better than your body.

They aren't that huge. I wont keep it in the summer, but I am using it in the winter to keep the wind/cold off my face and body and it works like a charm. I was also suprized to see it DID NOT reduce my speeds as I thought it would.

I quite disagree. I love my windshield and not only is it functional, I think it looks cool. When I purchased my Classic (almost a month ago), I bought it with the windshield installed so have no basis of comparison in terms of speed with or without. I do know that I can easily go 40 mph with only 1/3 turn of throttle. I can maintain that speed uphill, but must open up the throttle a bit more. With WOT she will easily go 45 mph. and maybe more (I haven't maintained WOT for more than a mile per break-in instructions of the dealer.) I never thought it had anything to do with the windshield until reading these threads. I have been thinking it's a combination of my weight (118-122 lbs) and pure luck. I have the '05 blue/silver Vino, like gjtomli's. Looks like the same windshield.

The only complaint I have about the windshield is the engine cutoff switch wont toggle if you mount the windsheild exactly in the middle you actually have to shift it to the left about .5 inch to allow the cuttoff to work. (not noticable except by those who are excentric...like me.)

Got mine from the dealer and it was only 104.95 with tax (@5%). It came in in less than a week.

so what is the verdict, is the windsheild a good idea?
No Speed loss?
and protects you from the cold wind..

I would say the verdict is Pro-windshield as long as you like the look.
