you can just unhook the lines and plug them. I have had this done for 4 years with no problems. The pump is just a small gearotor type, and will run, but wont hurt anything if you dont have it hooked up. Just be sure to pre-mix ;wink)

So you dont have to rip the bike open to remove it.

Disable the pump? Consistancy with a higher revving motor(Rumor has it).

I left my oil injector installed. A lot more people than you think do leave it on. I heard that it may dump in extra oil. We will soon find out!

To remove the oil pump, you bust strip the bike down to get to it.

I guess what I was asking was "Why disable a perfectly good, reliable piece of equipment?"

Since it was designed by and installed by Yamaha, I see no need to "override" it or go through the hassle of mixing my own premix....that's a P.I.T.A. when you are out in the middle of B.F.E. in the middle of a long ride and need to fill up.

I have done the exhaust dereg and mine revs much higher than stock and I haven't had so much as a glitch in 6000 miles. Most of the riding I do is on secondary roads @ 35-40 mph, or WFO.

I'm running premix and have left my pump connected. As long as the plug doesn't foul (which mine doesn't)... I don't see the harm in a little extra oil. The guy I bought it from has run it this way for over 3000 miles with a 70cc kit. Although he did go through like 2-3 cylinders early on... he finally figured out that and upjet and raising the needle fixed that issue.
