Hey Guys,
I finally took my 89 Jog out for a big test drive.
She idles great, and maintains a steady speed.

I did a plug read, and everything looks ok.

Here's my issue.
When I go WOT, I can't seem to get it to rev high enough to take me to top speed.

Does that sound like a Variator problem?
This scooter had 5000 miles when I got it,
so I wonder if the roller weights are just wore out.

Compression is a consistent 120psi.
I also adjusted the rear throttle cable adjustment to be sure it is
being opened all the way when wot.

I've never had a scooter with a CVT before,
so am I correct that a worn Variator will keep the rpms low?

Any other things to check?

Thanks so much.

Ok,
new news....

I just adjusted the carb some more, and went on a long ride.
If I have enough flat ground without stopping (hard to find in SF)
I can get the rpms up and top speed is better.

It's the stock carb with a 90 jet for the high
running premix.

The weird thing is if I go WOT from a dead stop,
I can get it to rev pretty high at the start, with a lot of torque,
then the torque drops off fast as well as the rpms of the engine.
Then after riding for a little longer ,
the speed catches up and rpms get higher.

Now with the more info,
do you think it's a carb issue, ot transmission issue?

too light weights . or you can go with a heavier clutch center spring . maybe you belts worn out too .

razz's all have chain drive. Sounds like the rev-limiter kicken on and off ??

it's a transmission issue, the rear pulley is the problem, open up the grease cover on the hub & you'll see a slot which has 2angles, that 2ngled slot is what causes your engine to bog down from low speed to high speed, if you make the slot straight your rpms will become consistent & it will never bog down even if you go too heavy on the rollers.

get a malossi & polini torque driver to solve that problem but there are taiwan made copies of that if you're on a budget.
