did u all know that there is a recall on 05 zumas back brakes? the dealer i bought mine from called me yesterday and told me about it. he said i should receive a notice in the mail but he wanted to let me know a head of time. its a free replacement of the rear brakes of 05's and any yamaha dealer will fix it. it might be for the 04's to because when i called my local dealer for an appointment and told her its for the rear brake recall she ask for the year of mine, so that telling me other years had the same problem. if u guys didnt know about it u might to contact ur local dealer soon for any details i missed.

okay... I called my dealer about this and here is the info he had...

There are recalls on 2002-2005 zuma's....

they are all rear brake specific..

however not all zuma's are effected...

you need to contact a dealer located near you by using the dealer locator (http://www.yamaha-motor.com/locator/PrxInput.aspx)
Then they will need your VIN and they can tell you if your scooter is effected or not...

yeah i dont know about them but i do know the 05 does because both dealers (the one that sold it to me and the one that will be servicing it) said your 05 does have a rear brake recall. u would think after 2-3 years yamaha would have figure out the brake prob.

well i guess mine is one of them. the dealer that sold it to me had the vin and i dont think he would call and tell me about it if mine was ok.
but the dealer that will be fixing it didnt ask for a vin. i guess i will find out tomarrow when she calls me back to make the appointment (the service department closed early).

yeah, my dealer said that they have a list of VIN's effected and if yours is one that you just bring it to them and they replace the brake parts and shoes... then your good to go...

However I'm sure it's a 30 minute job... they'll probably take 2 or 3 days!

Typical huh!

I'm just glad mine wasn't one of them for the fact of them not wanting to touch a modded scooter!
