Figured they were more of a Chinese sort of product than a Mexicali sort of thing.

so did i till i had some people i know that use to work for vento tell me that ther made in mexico. not that ther is anything worng with that.

vento needs to get the bore&stroke right they say a 50cc is running a 56mm bore and a 52.6mm stroke witch in real life comes out to 120cc or around that

Lot of difference between where it's assembled and where the bike was manufactured, which was why I was asking for the first part of the VIN. My Nissan was manufactured in Japan, parts shipped to the states for final assembly was in Tenn. Erich referred to the Vento in the forum info as Chinese, and we had a lot of folks on here on the old boards who also referred to the Vento as a Chinese bike, hence why I'm asking.

I took a Few Things Apart KING VINO and did not find Any MADE IN CHINA

Any where on them i allso checked The Battery & Took the Lights off,and I All So Did A Screew test To determine if the Screews will Strip There was No Striping of the Bolt when i took Them off all the Screews are Great Quality Chome Screews Cover of 98% of the Bike So for all of You out there would know the TEST to determine if your Bike is China. But if you have not Own the Scooter Research Must be Done..... Unlike China screews Strip when you Try to Take them Off  which makes Working on them Very Hard SKULL

To determine to see if your engine is made in china Check the Aluminum with a Tooth Brush is it sounds like Cardboard when you tap it and it's kinda Hollow inside.. it's made in CHINA Talk to this Guy down the Street and he got a BANDIT scooter He was told that the bike was made in the USA he called me over and the Box that was dropped off was MADE IN CHINA
He was very mad about this!! i told him you should have Came to me and i would of Hooked you up with PROVOSCOOTER and you could have logged on there to find the Best Stuff and the Truth. He calls me over again becuze it did not start i checked and found something that should have not happened the Trottle cable Broke from the Carb and i found Gas & Oil Leaks under the bike i told him it's OVER  you gonna have to Order new parts..

but to make a Long Story Short

These are the Grade materials for CHINA

Plastics - 45-55 % Low Grade
Metals - 84-88 % Med Grade
Aluminums -48-65 % Low Grade
Rubbers -40-49 % Low Grade

You won't find automotive mechanical parts sampled with MADE IN labels, hence why I asked for a partial VIN.

hey, i own a phantom r4i

the engine is chinese and is made by qianjing motors.

the scooter is great and ver affordable, but i have to admit the quality is not as good as other brands like derbi etc...

anyways i am happy with it

also, its a 125cc and not a 150cc

none of the phantoms have ever been 150cc and that is a proven fact.

and lol @ tester that measures engine size... thats just ridiculous

For some reason I just Dont Think that the Engine is China becuze i know for a Fact that China Dont Use Good Materials in the Parts or there engines Or Screews or Plastics.. where Did you here about this Groom Info from nicoj420 if you found a LOGO let me know where it is...There should be no Diffrent then Kymco which are Tawian made....

if you check the engine code it is VE153QMI

the VE is vento's code, the rest is QuianJiang's engine code.

this is the same engine used in several other scoot's
VE153QMI
QJ153QMI
LF153QMI
LB153QMI

That would be a list of 4 identical 124cc engines from different brands.

VE = Vento
QJ = China QuianJiang (these guys manufacture Vento's bikes)
LF = LiFan (2nd or 3rd largest Chinese manufacturer)
LB = LongBo / Chengfei Motors

The standard no. is not related to the VIN nor serial number, even less to the displacement, they have NOTHING TO DO. It is just a way to label a given product as a manufacturer label/control, it just identifies the product type.

In the case of the Phantom R4i it haves a 153QMI engine, wich is identical to a QJ153QMI or a LF153QMI as all of them are 153QMI engines, all of them share each single part!

Lets get this thing straight.

VENTO DOES NOT MANUFACTURE ANYTHING, they just buy them from a chinese OEM, the OEM being China QuianJiang Motor.

In theory you could get QuianJiang to build an identical scooter that would meet every regulation a Vento does, the only difference would be that it wouln't be certified.

People, the 153QMI doesn't mean anything at all, it is just a code the real 150cc scooter engine is a 157QMJ (google it if you want to prove it).

Another example, the Gladiator/Thunderstar/Rebelian engine is a 162FMJ, 150cc, on a Vento the engine will be labeled as VE162FMJ, on my Sinski XSJ150-6 it is labeled as XSJ162FMJ, they are the same engines.

Conclusion:

VIN starts with 5KMM and your Phantom's engine is labeled as "--153QMI" it is a 124cc, no matter what the first two characters are, it is just the engine code, not related to the VIN.

VIN starts with 5KMM and your Phantom's engine is labeled as "--157QMJ" TAKE PICTURES OF IT AND POST ABOUT IT ON THE GROUP, NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN ONE!!! (You've got a real 150cc Phantom)

If your VIN does not start with 5KMM, it may not be a Vento, therefore, not EPA/DOT/CARB certified (you have a big problem there).
