My 04 zuma was not restricted either. Can go 43mph stock.

I have never taken mine apart but the needle can go past the 40 MPH on flat ground.

They are not restricted mechanically, but they are "restricted" electronically. The CDI only allows the engine to rev up to 9K rpm. With a different CDI they should rev at least to 10.5K rpm.

yup... The only thing that restricts the zuma is the cdi unit... 9000rpm makes it stop at 42ish...

Fork out some cash for a cdi unit and you can get a few more MPH out of it...

Now this is where I'm going to argue. All our zumas we had at my dealer had a washer in the exhaust, and we had to go through and pull them out. I've pull a dozen of those damn buggers out in my first month there.

cool... i'm the 1st senior member...

anyway, i swear my zuma didn't have a washer... unless it was removed before i received it....

the exhaust hole is filled in so only 1/2 the hole allowes exhaust but thats on the head side...

Ours were horrible because we couldn't get the Dremmel back down in to it like we do with the Vino. It use to really piss Matt off. He was about to say to hell with the Zuma at that point.
