I'm thinking of making my BUGEYE... a non-bugeye... something different is definately needed to correct the UGLY headlights on the 02+ zuma...
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?

Well the bugeyes look like Baja lights, and they were going for that Dual-sport look. But I'd like to see a real sport scoot styling though in the Yammy North America line-up.

I like the fatty tires on the zuma - nice big tires give it a lot of stability, and are good for off-roading/tearing up your backyard.

I've ridden a zuma once. They're fun, but I prefer the manual shifting. I know I'm in the minority here though.

manual shifting would be cool...
however there were no scooters like that here when I was looking...
so the zuma was the best of the 2 options I had...
it was a zuma or a metro! and almost didn't even look at the zuma... but the dumb honda dealer wanted $200 over MSRP on a year old model...
I called the yamaha dealer and he had 1 zuma left... in the box... and mine... Which the one in the box was already sold but not assembled yet... (the other person didn't like blue and wanted the silver)
long story short... gears would be nice... but I'm working with what I got.... and it should be the BADDEST ZUMA EVER! once I get my parts and install them for this summer! (lennox, I'll still go faster than you with your 100cc kit... Wanna race?)

I WISH we could race!!! I know the only reason your asking is cause it will NEVER happen :D

Best thing about my short lived Bajaj was that manual shifting.

that's not true... I'm only stuck here in alaska till august...
Then who knows where I'll be... even possible to get to Eglen (sp) in florida... Then it's on buddy!
Not saying I will go there but it's always a possibilty!

Hi everyone :)
I don't want to get off topic here but since manual shifting on scooters has been mentioned several times in this thread I'll go ahead and ask it here. Are manual shift scooters (for example the Stella) fully manual ( manual clutch and manual gears) or are they a hybrid like the old Honda step-thru (automatic clutch and manual gears? I assume the gear selection is done by hand on the scooter since the floorboard would make shifting by foot rather difficult, but then where would you put a clutch and 2 brakes on the handlebars? I think you'd need 3 hands! Also, is the gear selection done by twisting the left grip or is it done some other way?
Thanks?

I'm pretty sure that the Bajaj is the same as the stella and I know that Vespas are the same way.
They are shifted by twisting the left grip. The clutch is done with the left "brake" lever. The rear brakes are activated via a small pedal on the floorboard. It's really easy. You squeeze the left lever and then twist the grip to shift and then let out the lever. When you brake, you squeeze the right brake lever and step on the brake pedal at the same time.

Oh, and here's a webpage on Bajaj's website about shifting.
