'02 Vino out of storage and hard to start

Hi, I hope someone can help me out here.

I just got my Vino out of storage after a couple of years because I was away from home. While I was charging the battery back up, I decided to kickstart the engine just to get it going first. First, it was hard to start and when it did start it was hard to keep running. Also, the little tube below the carb was just spitting out gas. I just blamed it on the fact maybe i flooded it while i was trying to kickstart it. When the battery was all charged up, I used the electric starter, and after a few attempts, i got it started again... but it was hard to keep running, and as well the tube was spitting out gas again.

I'm pretty sure that isn't normal, and I have no clue... the scooter only has 1100 km on it, so i don't think things are all broken.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that with a bike that has sat that long replace the sparkplug and clean out the carb. Its probably all gummed up with old gas. Go ahead and drain all that old gas out and put in some new fresh gas. Check the airfilter to see if it's really dirty but with that low mileage I doubt it needs a cleaning.

I'll give that a shot, I guess to drain i have to suck on the vacuum hose, and the gas should come out of the little hose that it was spitting out of earlier?

And then its remove the air filter box, get to the bottom of the carb, and open up the float chamber and give it a good ole cleaning (minding the little parts of course)?

Looks like I have a weekend chore to do.

Can't you pull the hose running from the tank to the carb to drain it? Carbs usually have a little drain plug. The last thing I'd want is two year old turpentine going in my mouth....
