Hi,
I am planning on replacing my stock tires with the Pirelli SL 26 tires. But I have one question, is there any way I could change out the tires without removing the brake caliper on the front. I had such a pain replacing the brake pads a month ago I'd hate to go through that again.
Thanks,
KDX80Boy

yes, you can. The only problem is that when you bunp the rotor against the pads, you end up having to remove it anyway. If you go reel slow, and be careful, it can be done.

please elaborate, Lennox...
i've wondered the same thing, but as most folks on the forum are aware, have
grotesquely limited knowledge of things mechanical. ;wink)
how exactly would one go about it (indulge me, please) and more to the point,
why would bumping the rotor against the pads necessitate the removal of the front caliper?
thanks, and sorry to be so clueless.

when you bump the pads, they get moved out of place. the stupid little clips that hold them in are a pain in the arse. It is almost imposible to get the pads back in the clips and position it corrects when on the fork.
make sense?

not exactly, but then i told you i wasn't really very well-versed mechanically. ;wink)
this is a topic i know all but nothing about and smelled like there were
pitfalls that were being eluded to and so i'm just trolling for any info i can get, really.
and get it in layman's terms as i seem to keep falling asleep every time
i crack open this British Haynes t-n-g scooter manual i've got.
but at least it's something to be aware of, and i can feel better about
myself one day when i say, "Lennox says it's the Pads, not me!!!" Lol
-thanks man.

Well those clips aren't critical, without them the brake should still operate normally. The pads will just tend to glide against the rotor more at slower speeds.

I haven't crossed that bridge yet, can see we're working on some small diameters compared to what I'm used to.
