Fellow scooterists...

Looking for some thoughts on a GPS that I can use in both on my Vino 125 and in my cage.

I currently use my Dell Axim X50 PDA with a CompactFlash GPS card and Mapopolis software in my cage. It works really well, but the Axim's battery charge connector has become rather tempermental, so I try to not use it too much any more which without buying another battery limits my battery usage. It's also not waterproof nor designed for outdoor use, which makes it a bit of an issue on the scooter.

I'm looking for something that:

A) is color
B) has expandable memory through like an SD card or something similar
C) Has a handlebar mount available from RAM or from another source
D) Has a car mount availalbe from RAM or from another source
E) Has turn-by-turn routing and auto-rerouting.
F) Is powered either by rechargable batteries or replaceable batteries (AA, AAA, etc)
G) Under $600 or so street with a full set of maps and accessories
H) Has at least ipx7 waterproofing, ipx8 is better of course.

I am leaning toward a Garmin eTrex Vista Cx because it has the entire mapsource maps available on a single MicroSD card and meets my requirements above, though I see that now Garmin also has the Zumo series of GPS out there that are motorcycle-specific too.

Who's using a GPS on their scooter and what kind of luck have you had? I could also get a bluetooth GPS unit to use with my Treo 650 smartphone, but that has the same battery life and waterproofing issues that the Axim has.

I have the 60Csx. It does it all, without talking. It does have sound signals though...I have the Maps, and I upgraded the micro card. I'm over 600, but not by alot. Being expandable, at least it will last. It is a quality product, and I use it everywhere from bikes, to cars to geo-cacheing. Its pricey, but its small. The Lowrance makes a nice one too. Its larger, and has a marine version if water-proofing is a major concern. You can go online to compare it to others, but I have no regrets on it. Other than the price, its flawless.
