my motor blew so i have taken everything apart, carb is all cleaned out but what do i do once i have it all hooked up again? there will be air in my lines, whats the easiest way to prime my carb or maybe just the oil line so that i wont have air in my oil line for re-start?

main question is how do i check flow/ prime the oil line without the scooter running?

Use pre-mix gas ALONG with your oil injector.

Use pre-mix gas ALONG with your oil injector.

right, basically add a capful or two of 2stroke oil to the gas and then hookup the line again.

I suppose you could inject some oil with a baster or something similar into the line before you hook it back to the carb.

But again, don't worry about it man just add a capful of oil to your gas and you'll be fine. Oil stays in that line and doesnt drip out when its removed, so most likely you won't be losing much oil.

the pump is crank driven, so common sense says to unhook the oil hose to the carb and spin the crank til oil comes out steadily.

yeah i tried w/ electric start but it didnt work, could my oil pump gear thing have gone bad at 13,000 miles and thats why my piston broke?

ill try again by kickstarting it instead....

i was thinking just pull the fan cover and spin the rotor by hand. those oil pumps dont fail. however, it might be worth looking at the plastic piece thats on the crank that spins the pump gear.

you mean the thing inside the tranny before the variator?

That is the starter clutch.

download the zuma service manual and read page 4-29. that shows all parts.

You have to get that pump spinning pretty fast for it to start spitting some oil. I would just ditch it and premix.....You'll sleep better at night!

BTW, Str8dum was referring to the opposite side of the crank (on the exhaust pipe side of the bike).

im not getting rid of my auto-lube but i will add some oil through 2 tanks of gas so that things are nice & lubed during some of the engine break-in. rest of the break-in will be on just 87 octane. nice and easy on the motor during first 600mi and itll love you so much ::Ov

Yeah, its hard to give the oil pump....it is such a great convenience. They hardly ever fail, so you should be okay. I would run something higher than 87 octane with a 70cc though, especially if it is an airsal. The higher compression needs at least 89. Besides, whats another 10 cents a fill up....your scooter will run much better. ..dance..

this is by far the best/ easiest way to get the oil going and check pump- thanks.
