Hello Everyone. In my quest for help i find myself here,

This might well be one of those ..repost..

But here goes.

I have a Honda Lead90 , 90cc 2 stroke scooter, imported from Japan. Searching google i canot find any english info on this scooter but my questions and problems are not really model specific. ( I have searched tho.. )

When i got it, 2 of them as a matter o fact.. one had a rusted out gas tank, so i removed it, had it hot dipped and coated/painted.. cleaned out the carb, and she fired up.. but smoked like a crack-*potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth*..

So, 6 months later i received a replacement motor, basically the entire rear end of the scoot, swingarm with motor attached, airbox, carb, etc...

Removed the old rear end.. at the shock tower, swingarm bolt, on other bolt that holds the swingarm to the frame and the entire thing had to sit there for another 6 months while i had no time to deal with it.

Tonight, i had my neighbor help me out and we conected the 2 devils and tried to start it.

If i remove the spark plug, put some mixed gas into the hole and turn it over.. it will fire and burn whatever gas it has in the cylinder.. then sputter to a stop.

After much turning over.. i have no gas going to the carb. ( removed bowl drain screw and no fuel.

The fuel line goes from the gas tank, thru a fuel filter, into the bottom of the pump, the pump has 3 lines, 2 at the bottom and one at the top.

The top line out of the pump has an arrow pointing out of it, feeding the carb.

The bottom of the pump has 2 lines, one from the gas tank, the other going to the crankcase of the motor.

Q: Does the pump need to be primed somehow ?

If i remove the fuel line from the top of the pump and turn it over.. should it not spit fuel ?

Any ideas ?

Sounds to me like you're not getting vacuum. From those two lines connected under the pump, remove the smaller one from wherever its connected towards the intake stream (not the crankcase, probably just looks that way).

Then remove the fuel line off the carb, and apply vacuum to the smaller line by either sucking on it or sticking it partially into a vacuum cleaner, fuel should flow through the bigger line.

If it doesn't the petcock is bad and needs to be replaced.

If you have fuel, then you just need to make sure the vacuum line is secure onto the intake manifold.

good luck, and post some pics if you can.

the top hose is fuel line to carb remove it see if fuel shoot out , if fuel is out is good, the rotary pump not working gonna get another pump.

just try a new vaccum hose just to test out.

Ok. ( I tried to edit my post above.. but i'm not seeing the option.. sorry )

BT is on the right track, i removed the line from the pump that conect to the bottom end, and placed a piece of clear plastic line to the pump, sucked on the thing repeatedly and it flows fuel out to the carb this way, so i suspect the line between the pump and both bottom end is clogged or has an air leak.

I'm going to remove it and check now !.. back in a bit.

Thanks !

Any other suggestions for a scooter that has not run in a long time ?

AWSOME !!!... SHE RUNS !

It was the line from the pump to the crank that was the problem, i tried to remove it but it's a tight fit and would not come out, but after messing with it a bit i tried to blow into the line for the hell of it and it was flowing air freely !

So.. turned it over and Squirt.. :sunny:

Plugged all the lines the way they needed to be and it started like a champ ! ( sounds good too !! )

Now to get all the electrical lines in their proper place ( or as close as i can figure out ! ) and bolt everything back on , installing the plastics on this thing is a PITA... _o

But other than that, the rest should be easy ! ( famous last words )

THANKS FOR THE HELP !!!!!!! :smokin:

And done !

Went for a quick ride, maiden voyage kinda thing, got a whole 100 ft far and she went BRRRrrrrr . .r. .r ....r..... put.. _o

Pushed it back to the garage suspecting my original problem comming back to haunt me. Had to remove the plastics again and re-route the vaccum line below the swingarm. a few more bad words later i was back on the road.

First time riding a scooter without breaking down or having problems, i gotta say they are fun little buggers, that's for sure !

I need a new front tire, and i have no idea what condition the drive belt is in, are belts prone to sudden failure or do they gradually go bad ? symptoms ?

For a 90cc 2 stroke she rev's right along, i may have to clean out the carb as it idles rough, but since it has not run in so long, i'm going to put a tank of gas thru it before i do anything else to it.

8" Disk brakes front and back
DrainBrain power meter to measure speed, distance, power usage..

Really fun bike ! completely silent, and 40 km/h in low speed mode. 30 km range on 5 cents of electricity.
